Adam Marvin, Esq.

Adam is an experienced attorney and professional military officer. An eight-year veteran of the Arizona Army National Guard, Adam currently holds the rank of Captain and serves on active duty as the Command Judge Advocate for the largest brigade in the state. After graduating from law school and moving to Arizona in 2011, Adam was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona. He received his military commission in 2012. Adam lives in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix with his wife of ten years, Shauna, and their three children.

Professional Experience:

• Command Judge Advocate, 158th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Phoenix, AZ 2019-

Senior legal advisor to Commander of organization consisting of 2,100 employees. Supervised staff of one attorney and five paralegals. Provided legal support to three battalions and sixteen companies during Operation Protect and Serve civil disturbance mission. Authored Arizona National Guard’s first-ever brigade-level disciplinary withholding policy. Managed legal compliance across the six core Judge Advocate competencies: administrative and civil law, contract and fiscal law, criminal law, international and operational law, legal assistance, and claims.

• Commander, 3666th Support Maintenance Company, Phoenix, AZ –2017- 2019

Responsible for maintaining the combat readiness, health, welfare, morale, and discipline of 11 officers and 147 enlisted Soldiers. Prioritized unit resources, including time, equipment, money, and facilities, to accomplish assigned missions. Ensured the combat readiness of 83 vehicles and trailers, 161 individual and crew served weapons, 109 tactical communications systems, and assorted supporting equipment valued at over $21 million. Oversaw the professional development of nine commissioned officers, two warrant officers, and 62 non-commissioned officers.

• Assistant Judge Advocate, AZNG Joint Forces Headquarters, Phoenix, AZ – 2012- 2017

Served as one of two full-time attorneys for the Arizona Army National Guard. Achieved guilty verdict as lead prosecutor in first post-WWII court-martial in Arizona National Guard history. Represented the government at over fifty enlisted administrative separation boards and three officer separation boards. Provided legal advice to senior managerial officials of government agency with over 8,000 employees in areas of law including: employee disciplinary actions, criminal prosecutions, EEOC employer defense, Joint Ethics Regulation compliance, and government contracting.

• Attorney, Champagne, Albren, and Crowe, LLP, Phoenix AZ – 2012-2013

Led over 100 Social Security Disability Insurance administrative hearings as first-chair attorney, authored case briefs and appellate motions, prepared clients for testimony, conducted oral argument, cross examined expert medical and vocational witnesses.

• Constitutional Law Fellow, Institute for Justice, Tempe, AZ – 2011-2012

Wrote court pleadings and motions, authored op-eds in support of current and prospective projects, researched complex legal questions and added findings to institutional knowledge database, proofread and cite-checked pleadings and memoranda prepared by staff attorneys.
