Kelly O’Connel

I am an Arizona native and have lived here all my life. I attended the University of Arizona (Go Cats!), moved back to Phoenix after I received my degree, and continued with my education at University of Phoenix.

We moved into Arcadia nineteen years ago. My son attended Hopi, Ingleside Middle School, and Arcadia. He is currently attending MCAD (Minneapolis College of Art and Design) in Minnesota.

I worked in education for 30 years (Special Education), teaching (all subjects) for 20 of those years. I worked with students with many levels of learning abilities, learned a great deal from them, and can say I was never bored. It was a challenging yet rewarding career. I was able to retire four years ago.

I became involved with the Block Watch as co-captain in our area approximately 6 years ago, having worked with the other team in an ‘unofficial’ capacity for several before taking on that role.

I love being involved in both Block Watch and ACMNA (I was invited to join in June 2022). This is a fabulous area to live, and I am excited to learn what I can from serving on the board.
