ACMNA past President 2018-2022

Tristahn Schaub

I moved from Massachusetts to Arizona sight unseen to attend the University of Arizona where I graduated with a BS in Chemistry. Being an outdoor enthusiast, I fell in love with the Southwest and the diversity of climate that AZ offers. My wife, Kate and I moved into our Arcadia home in 2007, having adored this neighborhood for years. The family loves the cul-de-sac life that 54th Ct provides us with a quiet street, views of Camelback, great neighbors and flood irrigation. Citrus trees grace our property tempting us to sleep with the windows open during the springtime bloom. It’s a wonderful picturesque lifestyle that we’re so grateful to raise our son in.

Professionally, I have been working for Merck Pharmaceuticals for almost 20 years where my job has me traveling most weeks across the western US. I never imagined I could enjoy such a quiet and rural residence yet be minutes away from Sky Harbor. My wife is a nurse who works for Honor Health and we have a grade-schooler named Graham who attends Great Hearts Veritas. My mom even moved to Arcadia several years ago and lives in Villa Lafayette by the old date palm grove. When I’m not serving on the board some of my favorite things to do are hiking with my son, practicing yoga, working around the house and tinkering with cars.

Why did I join the ACMNA? I feel it's important that we all find ways to give back, leaving things just a little better than when we arrived. As a parent I use this service commitment as a way to teach by example the importance of civic duty. It feels good to do things for others and for the greater enjoyment of Phoenicians, at least that’s what I tell myself when I’m picking trash from the oleander bushes on Camelback Cleanup days. I have grown tremendously as a board member, learning about Arcadia history, appearing at zoning cases and engaging with city leadership. I’m honored to work with people on our board who share a similar desire to care for our neighbors and preserve the character of Arcadia. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” - Margaret Mead
